Ah, yes... Thomas Jefferson was among my favorite founding fathers along with Benjamin Franklin, Patrick Henry, and George Washington. He really embodied the independent spirit, I think, and worked hard to make sure that America never returned to the tyranny he fought to pull us away from.
This quote from him makes a valid point. The Second Amendment was not about hunting or recreation... it was about defending the Constitution. Without giving the people the means to enforce and defend it, it's just a bunch of pretty words that any given leader can choose to ignore.
